Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled Dovetail Operator to join our production team. If you have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship, we want to hear from you! As a Dovetail Operator, you will play a vital role in our manufacturing process, ensuring that drawer components meet our high standards for quality and efficiency.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate dovetail machinery to machine drawer components for office and contract furniture according to established cycle times.
  • Load and unload parts into the machine, ensuring precision and accuracy throughout the process.
  • Maintain accurate records of output and production rates, achieving a target of 100 to 150 cycles per hour.
  • Monitor and maintain machine performance, addressing any issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that all machined parts meet or exceed customer specifications in terms of squareness, dimensional tolerances, and overall appearance.
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the production supervisor to support overall operational goals.

 

Expectations:

  • Meet or exceed established parts-per-hour targets as specified by production standards.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure quality output.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and comply with scheduled breaks and lunch periods.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative team environment through effective communication and collaboration.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; wood manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure in millimeters and understand dimensional tolerancing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for 100% of work time.
  • Frequent forward bending and side-to-side rotation.
  • Ability to lift and stack finished components as necessary.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Valen USA offers a competitive hourly rate based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation, paid holidays, medical insurance, short- and long-term disability, a life insurance program, and a 401(k) match. This position is classified as Non-Exempt, meaning it is eligible for overtime pay. We provide thorough training with opportunities for advancement within the company.
